Paint prep begins this weekend!

Since I decided to paint the walls first rather than the cabinets (see my plan of attack), I can start painting sooner rather than later. I’m hoping to start cleaning and priming the walls this weekend.

If you’ve never painted a room (or even a wall) here is a quick rundown of some things you will need.

A drop cloth… or several.

Painters tape — yes, masking tape will work. However, painters tape (the blue kind) comes off easier. If you’ve ever taped your windows for a hurricane or such, you’ll find this much easier to work with for painting.

Something to do corners with. Now you can just use a handy dandy paint brush.
Or you can get one of these nifty things. I’ve seen them in stores around here. I might just pick one up.

You’ll also need
a paint roller and a paint tray.

Or you could always get one of these amazing puppies. Go ahead and gaze while I wipe the drool off my keyboard.

Okay, I probably can’t afford that, but I can probably afford one of these. Since I’m going to be re-painting my kitchen in between everything else, I think one of these re-sealable paint trays would be perfect.

And I picked up some of this for my command center. I just know this will come in handy for my command center. I might start calling it command central. That’s an even funner word.
