Earth day every day

You did celebrate Earth day this year, didn’t you? Well, if you didn’t it’s never too late to start promoting environmental awareness. Some say green is the new black. To me, that’s just as confusing as saying 40 is the new 20. However you’d like to say it, going green is cool (or hip or rad or awesome… you get the drift). I prefer to think of it as a crisp, tailored, white shirt — it never goes out of style.

Here are a few ideas to help you get started promoting Earth day every day.

Labels for your recycling bins

Labels for your recycling bins

Many people are recycling now. (Not saying you have to, but it is the “in” thing to do…) You don’t have to have a fancy recycle system, but there are some really awesome ones out there. If you have an extra crate or trash can, you can use these recycle bin labels to help you set up a recycle system that works for you. That is the important part: make it easy for you, or else you won’t actually do it.

Another easy way you can become a little more environmentally friendly is by using re-usable water bottles. Don’t grab one of those plastic bottles from your closest gas station. A re-usable water bottle is better for you and the environment (and cheaper in the long run to boot!)

Green is the way to go!

Going green means reusing when you can. What better way to start reusing than with a canvas tote bag? These roomy bags can fit a lot of groceries, a towel and a  change of clothes for the gym, or a picnic lunch and snack for a day at the beach.

For those who were green before it was cool.

Kenyan Earth proverb

Beautiful Kenyan proverb

Whether you are already carbon neutral or simply reducing your carbon footprint, going green is not just the cool thing to do. You may think global warming is a bunch of hooey. You may think what you do or don’t do, won’t matter.

However, the planet your living on is the only one we have. And as this beautiful Kenyan proverb says, it wasn’t given to us by our parents, it was loaned to us by our children. For our kids’ sake, all of our kids’ sake, do your part.
