I have seen all of his movies. Some were good. Some, not so much.
Alice in Wonderland came into theaters earlier this month. Haven’t had a chance to see it yet, but I’ve heard mixed reviews. And some aren’t going to chance it after what has been dubbed the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory fiasco.
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory is a classic (as is Alice in Wonderland). But the characters are more than just a bit odd. Including the main character, Willy Wonka.
In my mind, Johnny Depp didn’t over-play Willy Wonka, he just showed a more “eccentric” side. It was a bit creepier than the original, but I still liked it.
Now we have Alice in Wonderland. Let’s be honest, this story is for adults. Yes, kids enjoy it, but all the innuendos and deeper themes are for adults. Mushrooms? A caterpillar smoking a “pipe”? Come on. These are adult aspects that most kids won’t get but adults will.
And one of my favorite characters was the Mad Hatter. He was a freak among freaks… how awesome is that? I have seen lots of trailers and previews and I am in awe of the talent among the many characters… including the aforementioned Johnny Depp.

I normally get my holiday cards out (I buy early) the first week in December. ]]>My daughter’s bedroom has one wall that is covered with pictures of Troy Bolton. There are a few other posters thrown up, including this Assateague Island pony poster. (She “helped” me take that photo.)
Anyway, back to High School Musical and Troy. My youngest daughter absolutely adores Troy. She loves the High School Musical movies. She owns all 3 dvds and 2 of the soundtracks.
And her birthday is coming up. What on earth do you buy a girl so fascinated with HSM? I could go to the local mall and grab a t-shirt or poster. However, my daughter is one of a kind. And she deserves a one of a kind gift. So, I went searching for some unique High School Musical gifts.

]]>If you ever wondered if you could fall in love with a robot, or if robots could fall in love, you need to watch Wall-E. If you ever thought you couldn’t relate to a robot, you need to watch Wall-E.
Wall-E is an adorable little robot, who looks more like a robot from 1970 rather than 2008. He does a tireless job day in and day out (sound familiar?) His only friend is a cockroach that he has tamed (we knew they would outlive everyone) and he spends his spare time watching old tv movies.
That’s when Eve, a modern-day robot, plops into his life and turns it on it’s ear. (I said you could relate). Wall-E falls in love with Eve and takes care of her. And it isn’t until late in the movie that Eve finally shows her love for him.
I won’t go into any more details, but believe me, Wall-E is worth the watch. It’s on DVD now, go rent it for a family-friendly good time.
